In 2008 there was another fascinating find in the form of an entirely new branch of the human family tree. Discovered by professor Lee berger and his then 9yrs old son methew. The malapa fossil included two nearly complete hominid skeletons that were subsequently determined to belong to previously unknown transitional human ancestor species living around million years ago. The hominids were named Australopithecus sediba, one of the juvenile skeletons was later nicknamed karabo.
